The Cuban delegation to the sports
meeting has 12 titles, three silver and
nine bronze medals and is only behind Brazil, which leads the
event with
40 crowns, 30 silver and 34 bronze medals, followed by the
United States
(28-23-15) and Mexico (24-32-24).
On Thursday, the athletes from the Caribbean nation received a
message of
congratulation from the president of the Cuban Olympic Committee
(COC),
Jose Ramon Fernandez, who —via telephone— urged them to continue
obtaining
good results and defending Cuba and revolutionary sports.
“Fernandez’s words are very rewarding and they come in an
important
moment, when we are entering the final days of competition with
the
beginning of actions in judo and weightlifting, two sports in
which we
have many hopes,” said Osvaldo Vento, head of the Cuban sports
delegation
in Guadalajara.
On Wednesday, Leonardo Diaz, Yunidis Castillo and Yunerki Ortega
