Hundreds of riders gathered
in the early morning at the Calixto Garcia
Park, in the heart of this eastern city and rode to the Che
Guevara
Monument at the Los Libertadores Avenue to express their
solidarity with
the five Cuban antiterrorists serving harsh and unjust sentences
in the
United States.
At the goal, most of the 300 delegates from 45 countries
attending this
Colloquium welcomed the riders and witnessed the start of Cuban
Friendship
Institute 51 Anniversary Cycling Cup, with representatives from
several
Cuban provinces.
As part of the ceremonies, the delegates set Peace Tents where
students
from the different education levels in this province sang,
recited poetry
and participated in cultural activities, all of them dedicated
to the
Cuban Five.
Puerto Rican Carlos Manuel Lopez said he was happy to
participate in this
event, as he has been doing every year and praised the skills of
the
children and youngsters that performed.
They are a great human richness for Cuba, something many envy,
and one of
the reasons René González, Gerardo Hernández, Ramón Labañino,
Fernando
Hernández and Antonio Guerrero were in the United States (to
defend them),
he said.
What we witness here, with these children, we can not see it
anywhere;
this freedom, this happiness is huge and we have to defend it,
as I will
always do with the Cuban Revolution from Puerto Rico, like the
Five did.
The Colloquium will include an online interactive forum to
update the
current situation of the Five, while a specialists panel will
answer
questions.
Gerardo, Ramón, René, Fernando and Antonio were in the US to
collect intel
on Miami-based terrorist organizations, such as Brothers to the
Rescue,
Alpha 66 and others.
