According to Juventud
Rebelde newspaper, participating at the meeting are
representatives from solidarity committees with the five Cuban
antiterrorists unjustly imprisoned in the U.S. since 1998, trade
union
leaders, and jurists from all over the world, as well as
accredited
diplomats to Havana.
As of Friday, about 15,000 women will carry out a walk in
solidarity with
Antonio Guerrero, Ramon Labañino, Gerardo Hernandez, Fernando
Gonzalez and
Rene Gonzalez, through the municipalities of Calixto Garcia,
Gibara,
Rafael Freyre, Baguano and Banes in representation of all Cuban
women.
The Granma newspaper published statements by a member of the
Socialist
Workers Party of the U.S., Martin Koppel, where he highlighted
Rene
Gonzalez’s firm decision to continue fighting for the release of
his
fellowmen.
Koppel affirmed that the additional supervised release imposed
on Rene
illustrates the lack of willingness of the U.S. government to
make justice
with these antiterrorists.
The president of the Pathfinder Press publishing house, American
Mary-Alice Waters, taking part for the second time in this
annual event,
will contribute with the cause of the Cuban Five by spreading
the truth on
their case.
The Seventh International Colloquium to Free the Cuban Five will
also
develop a panel called “The people of the world accuse Luis
Posada
Carriles”, on Thursday, to demand a fair trial for the confessed
author of
the bombing of a mid-air Cuban civil airplane, where all
passengers on
board were killed.
