Thais, a student at the Jorge Camilo Restrepo
elementary school in the
Havana municipality of Boyeros, won with her poem ‘Esas sombras
tuyas me
reflejan el alma’, sort of a summary of the girl’s
interpretation of love.
It is part of ‘A la misma vez’, Thais’ first notebook of poems.
“There are people who can stay awake all night long to see the
dawn. My
parents are among them. This notebook is dedicated to them, with
all my
love,” the dedication reads.
Thais was born on November 14, 2001, and she has already won
other poetry
awards in provincial contests.
