This years’ festival, which is scheduled to run until Thursday, is
dedicated to intellectual Pablo de la Torriente Brau and to the 89th
anniversary of the University Students Federation (FEU) and the 20 th of
the Felix Varela publishing house.

The festivities for the International Students’ Day are an opportunity for
reaffirming the youths’ commitment with the Cuban Revolution and their
leading role in today’s battles.

The president of the High School Students Federation (FEEM), Mirthia Julia
Brossard Oris, noted that this date brings a lot of joy and is a good
moment for reflecting on noble causes such as that of the five Cuban
antiterrorists unjustly imprisoned in the US since 1998.

Brossard stated that on this occasion the FEEM and its more than 300,000
members will ratify their solidarity with those who fight for making
dreams come true and mentioned the case of Chilean students demanding high
quality free public education.

She explained that the festivities to mark this date also include day
trips, going camping, exhibits, festivals, tribunes for demanding the
release of the five Cuban antiterrorists, small book fairs, and contests,
among many other activities.
