Cuban Universities Nationwide to Host Fourth Reading and Book
Festival
HAVANA, Cuba, Nov 15 (acn) As of Tuesday, Cuban universities
nationwide will host the Fourth Reading and Book Festival, on
the occasion of the International Students’ Day, on November 17.
|
This years’ festival, which is scheduled to run
until Thursday, is
dedicated to intellectual Pablo de la Torriente Brau and to the
89th
anniversary of the University Students Federation (FEU) and the
20 th of
the Felix Varela publishing house.
The festivities for the International Students’ Day are an
opportunity for
reaffirming the youths’ commitment with the Cuban Revolution and
their
leading role in today’s battles.
The president of the High School Students Federation (FEEM),
Mirthia Julia
Brossard Oris, noted that this date brings a lot of joy and is a
good
moment for reflecting on noble causes such as that of the five
Cuban
antiterrorists unjustly imprisoned in the US since 1998.
Brossard stated that on this occasion the FEEM and its more than
300,000
members will ratify their solidarity with those who fight for
making
dreams come true and mentioned the case of Chilean students
demanding high
quality free public education.
She explained that the festivities to mark this date also
include day
trips, going camping, exhibits, festivals, tribunes for
demanding the
release of the five Cuban antiterrorists, small book fairs, and
contests,
among many other activities.
