Speaking to ACN, the head coach of
the Cuban national women’s taekwondo
team, Pedro Carballo, said that the Caribbean nation will be
represented
in the tournament by Robelis Despaigne (men’s +80 kg) and
Glenhis Hernandez (women’s +67 kg) —both Pan American champions
in Guadalajara, Mexico, a few weeks ago— and also by Pan
American silver medalist Angel Modesto Mora (men’s 68 kg) and
Nydia Muñoz (women’s 57 kg).
Carballo noted that the top three finishers in each division
will qualify
for the London Olympics and that each country is allow to attend
de
contest in Queretaro with only four representatives —two in each
sex.
He noted that the Cuban taekwondo experts are currently
completing their
preparation at the High Performance Center of La Loma, in San
Luis de
Potosi, Mexico, along with the representatives from Argentina
and the
Dominican Republic.
