Exhibition by Int'l Artists on Effects of Wars On Display in
Havana
HAVANA, Cuba, Nov 8 (acn) The WAR project by Argentinean artist
Pablo Bobbiois on display at Casa Guayasamin, a cultural center
in Old Havana, where the public will be able to appreciate 20
large-format snapshots.

The traveling initiative, that combines poetry
and visual art, has the
purpose of showing viewers the vicissitudes of armed conflicts
and their
destructive effect from the social and economic viewpoint, in
addition to
the terrible consequences to humans.
Bobbio, who has dedicated 51 years of his life to art, told the
media he
was very happy for being in Havana for the first time ever. He
said he had
tried to travel to Cuba earlier but his plans didn’t come
through because
of the dictatorship ruling his country back then (1976-1983).
The Argentinean artist thanked Cuban poetry writer Ileana Mulet,
who made
it possible for the Cubans to enjoy the exhibition.
He explained that around 60 writers and poets, from 18
countries,
generously supported the realization of the project to expose
–be means of
a metaphorical language- the meaning of war and its consequences
for mankind.
Bobbio said the exhibition is scheduled to be presented in the
country of
origin of the participating artists. The itinerary includes, in
Latin
America, Chile, Mexico, Argentina, Peru and Cuba, with the
collaboration
of Ileana Mulet, who is involved in the project with her poem
Kees me
siglo XXI.
The idea is to continue on to Europe in a tour that would
comprise
Portugal, Spain, France, Italy and Finland, during 2012 and
2013.
The program in Cuba includes a lecture about the function of art
that will
be offered November 16 as part of an event organized by the
Fototeca
(Photographic Library) of Cuba, named Noviembre Fotografico.
Likewise on the 18th there will be a talk about Pablo Bobbio’s
work and a
poetry reading of works by Cuban poets Pablo Armando Fernandez,
Cesar
Lopez, Nancy Morejon, Alex Pausides and Ileana Mulet, at the
Guayasamin
center.
