Cuban Film “Maya” at the Iberian American Film Festival of
Huelva, Spain
HAVANA, Cuba, Nov 7 (acn) The Cuban short-feature film "Maya"
(2010) by Pedro Pío Martín will be premiered at the 37th Iberian
American Film Festival of Huelva to take place from November 19
to 26, according to different media outlets.

The film shows the relationship between a she dog
and her trainer, in a
history that mixes fiction and documentary.
Maya was screened at the Official Selection of the Cannes Film
Festival,
at the Film Festival of Cartagena (Colombia) and that of
short-feature
films of Sao Paulo (Brazil), among other events in the Americas
and Europe.
Pedro Pio has told the press by observing the relationship
between people
and their dogs, he sought to unveil other situations.
This year, out of 307 short-feature films submitted to the
RTVA-Cajasol
Prize, only 15 works from eight countries were selected, among
which is
Maya, produced and filmed in Cuba, is EFE reported.
Cuban film director Fernando Perez was awarded the Colon de
Plata prize to
the best art director in the former edition of the Spanish
contest for his
film "Jose Marti: the Eye of the Canary," about Cuban National
Hero in his
child and teen ages.
The film was a Spanish-Cuba co-production and it also won the
event’s
prize to the Best Photography, by Raul Perez Ureta.
The Huelva Festival is held every November in the Spanish city
with the
purpose of promoting cinematographic and audiovisual works and
creators
from Iberian American countries.
