Cuban Children Theater Company Returns After Successful US Tour
HAVANA, Cuba, Nov 8 (acn) The Cuban children Theater Company La
Colmenita (the little beehive) arrived in Cuba after a
successful US tour where they performed Abracadabra, a play that
deals about the five Cuban antiterrorists unjustly incarcerated
in the United States.
|
Carlos Cremata, director of the company, said at
a press conference upon
their arrival, that what they treasured the most of this tour
was the
possibility of being in touch, via telephone, with René González,
Gerardo
Hernández, Antonio Guerrero, Ramón Labañino and Fernando
González, known
as the Cuban Five.
Cremata pointed out that talking to the Five meant an extra
boost for the
children every time they went on stage. He added that those
conversations
gave the 22 children and the accompanying adults a sense of
pride at being
Cubans.
He said they were also thrilled when they attended the voting
session
against the US blockade against Cuba at the UN General Assembly
in New
York, and were able to touch the rostrum from where Cuban
Revolution
leader Fidel Castro and legendary guerrilla Ernesto Che Guevara
had
addressed the Assembly in the past.
Cremata said they had received a warm welcome from all the
audiences they
performed for, including a private performance at the UN
headquarters, and
that they had visited the UNESCO offices, a UN entity of which
they are
Goodwill Ambassadors since 2007.
He praised the fact that the remaining children that make up the
company,
while the others were on tour, had performed in several Cuban
cities,
something that had not happened before.
