Eduardo Montenegro, an official
with the National Sports Institute (INDER), told the press that
the island’s delegation is composed of 47 athletes, a guide y 10
trainers.
Under the slogan “To Guadalajara for victory, with dignity,
honor and patriotism,”
participants, classified according to their physical-motor
limitations, will compete in
athletics (22 and a guide), judo (10), table tennis (5),
swimming (4), weight lifting (4) and cycling (1), added the
director of sports for people with disabilities.
Standing out among figures with best results on this occasion
are Paralympic and world champion Yunidis Castillo; Luis Manuel
Galano, also a sprinter, and judokas Sergio Arturo Perez,
Yangalini Jimenez and Victor Sanchez.
Also with good prospects are weight lifter Cesar Rubio, tennis
player Erick Manso, cyclist Damian Lopez, swimmer Rafael
Castillo and Lazaro Rashid (athletics).
During a recent meeting with the press, methodology specialist
Robert Panflet pointed out that the main objective is to
maintain the fifth position by countries achieved four years
ago, and to obtain tickets for the London 2012 Paralympics.
