In these nine months, a
total of 2,064,229 visitors arrived in Cuba, an encouraging
figure taking into account the local authorities’ hope to
receive 2.7 million tourists by the end of the year.
The 8.4% increase represents 160,591 arrivals more than in the
same period of 2010.
With an average annual growth in its accommodation capacity of
7.5%, Cuba
continues the renovation of its hotel infrastructure as one of
the country’s priorities for the development of the tourism
sector.
Last year, 2,792 new rooms began to be exploited, mainly in the
Varadero beach resort of Matanzas and in the northern keys in
the central province of Villa Clara.
