Founded by renowned moviemaker Solas (1941-2008), the meeting is
an ideal opportunity for the promotion of films of high
aesthetic quality and that don’t need many resources for their
production, taking advantage of the possibilities of digital
technology.
A total of 160 works from some 30 nations, including Chile,
Bolivia, the United States, Cuba, Spain, India, China, Israel,
Azerbaijan, Malaysia and Finland, participated in the event’s
2010 edition.
Standing out in the program of this 9th edition of the Festival,
with its new director, young filmmaker Lester Hamlet, are spaces
for children and adolescents, and activities to recall Solas,
its creator and promoter, the winner of the National Cinema
Prize and director of emblematic films like Lucia, El siglo de
las luces, Miel para Ochun and Barrio Cuba.
