Harold Ricardo, director of the group, told ACN that it will
begin its performance as part of the giant orchestra of
participants, which will offer the event’s inaugural concert.
He
specified that three presentations will be made after this
performance in regions of that Central American nation before
taking part in the closing ceremony with the band of musicians
attending the event.
Ricardo
commented that a repertoire that includes classic and
contemporary authors, like Cubans Ernesto Lecuona and Guido
Lopez Gavilan has been prepared for the Festival.
Pizzicato,
founded five years ago and composed of talented musicians who’re
also members of the Holguin Symphony Orchestra, offers regular
concerts at the provincial office of the Association of Cuban
Writers and Artists and at La Periquera Provincial Museum.
During its
brief career, the string quartet has accompanied maestro Frank
Fernández, winner of the National Music Prize, in concerts and
recordings.
