Release of The
Cuban Five Demanded in Uruguay
HAVANA, Cuba, Sept 7 (acn)
“Release The Five, Release Truth,” is the title of an
article
published by Montevideo’s La Republica newspaper, which
demands the release from prison of the five Cuban
antiterrorists incarcerated in the United States for almost
13 years now.
|
In the
article, published on the editorial page, Gonzalo Perera
describes as a very serious outrage the situation of The
Five, arrested on September 12, 1998, and condemned to
sentences ranging from 15 years to two life imprisonments
plus 15 years.
Gerardo Hernandez, Ramon Labañino, Fernando Gonzalez,
Antonio Guerrero and Rene Gonzalez, were monitoring in Miami
the activities of Florida-based anti-Cuban groups.
A
brief statement demanding the release of these five men can
be signed online at the Web site of the Uruguayan Committee
for the Release of The Five (http://cteuruguay-proliberacion5.blogspot.com),
reads the article.
In
addition, it points out that the corporate media has built a
wall of silence around the case of The Five, and have not
allowed people to know the pure and simple truth about it.
