Dayron Robles Cruises into
Diamond League Title
HAVANA, Cuba, Sep 8 (acn)
Setting his season’s best at 13.01, Cuban 110 meter hurdler Dayron
Robles showed a clear recovery from his disqualification at the
Daegu World Championships, and earned enough points to win the
Diamond League race.

Robles, Olympic champion and world record holder, ran past the
new world champion US Jason Richardson, (13.10) and season’s
leader David Oliver (13.26) this afternoon at the last stage of
the Diamond League, held in the Swiss city of Zurich.
This last stage gave doble points to the winners, and Robles
made 8 to accumulate 16, three more than runner-up Oliver.
Previously the Cuban hurdler had won the Paris meeting (July 8)
and London’s (August 5).
Another Cuban that attended this meeting was vault jumper
Yarisley Silva, who finished 5th with 4.632 meters, tying with
bronze medallists Yelena Isinbayeva and Fabiana Murer, but with
one extra attempt.
Cuban shot putter Carlos Véliz finished 8th with a 20 meter
throw, in an event won by World silver medallist Dylan
Armstrong.
