Artists Bring Jazz Lessons to Students in Havana
HAVANA, Cuba, Sept 8 (acn) A
group of U.S. artists are in Havana to offer jazz workshops and
lectures in several schools of music of the Cuban capital,
Juventud Rebelde newspaper reports on Thursday.
The
initiative is part of the project “Metals to Havana”, which
emerged after the visit to Cuba last year of the Jazz at
Lincoln Center Orchestra, said Enrique Rodriguez Toledo, a
methodologist of the National Center of Art Schools.
The program began on Wednesday at the Guillermo Tomas
conservatory in the
Havana municipality of Guanabacoa and continued on Thursday
with a workshop and a lecture for music elementary students
at the Cultural Boarding House Complex for Students in the
municipality of Centro Habana.
In the afternoon, the professors met with students of the
Amadeo Roldan conservatory and, on Friday, they will meet
students of the National School of Arts.
The visit will conclude on Saturday with a great concert at
the Avenida Hall for students and musicians.
