In the interest of the Spanish Communist Party, the first
one to be founded abroad was that
of Seville, and the following one at the El Chorrillo
neighborhood of Panama City, composed of
humble children.
Carlos Alberto Cremata, director of the Cuban group,
founded in 1990, told ACN that
10 “Colmenitas” have been organized in six Venezuelan states
and one in Colombia, in the
neighborhood of San Cristobal, in Bogotá.
At present, conditions are created to form one in the
Mexican state of Chiapas, Mexico, and
another one in Buenos Aires, added Cremata, who specified
that requests coming from Qatar,
Algeria and Kuwait are also under study.
Given the interest in having new groups, professors of La Colmenita contact these countries
for the creation of troupes, generally made up of children
affected by poverty.
Key for the example of La Colmenita to find replicas on
the planet have been its teachings:
to share, do good, perform in places where their
presentations are most needed, and find
solutions to problems as a group.
Several Cuban provinces and municipalities have created
companies, which Cremata applauds,
provided that the perform in communities and have the
objective of having fun and learn to
appreciate art without trying to form actors, because that’s
what art schools are for, he
clarified.
Throughout its over two decades of existence, some
members of La Colmenita, have followed
the path of performance, but the vast majority are now
physicians, engineers, professors,
technicians and skilled workers, asserted its director.
