Duos Arrive in Varadero for Beach
Volleyball Circuit
HAVANA, Cuba, Aug 23 (acn) Duos
from Jamaica and Aruba arrive on Tuesday in Varadero, in the western
province of Matanzas, to participate in the North, Central American
and Caribbean (NORCECA) Beach Volleyball Circuit, to be held for the
first time in Cuba.

Both nations announced the arrival of duos of Cheryl Daley-Cherine
Richards and Elki Phillip-Ayana Dyette (women), from Jamaica;
and Mitchel Daniel-Eargenell De Cuba (men), from Aruba.
According to the weekly journal Jit, Guatemala, with Maria Jose
Orellana-Rut Gomez and Moises Reyes-Erick Garrido; and Puerto
Rico, with Yarleen Santiago-Dariam Acevedo, Yamileska Yantin-Tatiana
Encarnación and Roberto Rodriguez-Christopher Underwoo, also
confirmed their arrival as of Tuesday.
The duos of Katherine Quesada-Maria del Rosario, Rooper
Espinoza-Diego Alpizar and Esteban Escobar-Gilberto Villegas
(Costa Rica), and Diana Romero-Marcela Avalos and David
Vargas-Carlos Escobar (El Salvador), will arrive on Wednesday.
Swan
Valeria Mendoza-Elia Maria Torres and Dany Lopez-Gerald Umaña
(Nicaragua) and Elki Phillip-Ayana Dyette and Christian
Francois-Kevin Reader (Trinidad and Tobago) will land in Cuban
territory on Wednesday as well.
The Cuban duos are training since Sunday in the fields of the
Melia-Las Americas Hotel, a sports village of this fifth Beach
Volleyball Circuit.
According to Jit, Nirian Sinal-Ion Canet and Onayami
Sinal-Kirenia Ballar (w), and Karel Peña-Javier Jimenez and
Sergio Gonzalez-Yaimel Borrel (m) will represent Cuba on this
occasion.
The Cuban duos will look for points for the 2012 Olympic Games
in London, and will continue their training for the Pan-American
Games, in Guadalajara, Mexico, in October.
Cuba will partake in the events in Guadalajara with two duos,
women and men; therefore, outstanding performances are expected.
This event is scheduled to take place from Friday, August 26,
through Sunday, August 28.
