Filmmaker Ian Padron Invited to Present His Latest Film in
Michigan
HAVANA, Cuba, Jul 18 (acn) U.S.
documentarian Michael Moore invited Cuban filmmaker Ian Padron
to present his latest film ‘Habanastation’ in Michigan during
the Traverse City Film Festival —of which Moore is the founder,
director and sponsor—, scheduled for July 26-31.
Padron’s Opera Prima
—premiered at Havana’s Chaplin Theater on Saturday—
tells the story of two Havana kids of different social
background linked
by a common adventure.
The film, produced with the support of people from the city
of Traverse,
in the U.S. state of Minnesota, features Andy Fornaris and
Ernesto
Escalona in the main roles and ‘La Colmenita’ children’s
theater company,
which was declared Good Will ambassadors to UNICEF.
Speaking to Cuban television, Padron explained that his
objective in
making the film, a production for all ages, was to bring the
Cuban family
to the cinema and offer them his creation.
The film will soon be screened in nearly 300 movie theaters
all across Cuba.
