Cuba Routs Beijing Tigers to Stay Unbeaten at World Baseball Challenge
HAVANA, Cuba, Jul 12 (acn) Cuba routed the Beijing Tigers on Monday 10-0 and in the process remained unbeaten in three outings at the World Baseball Challenge, which is under way in the Canadian city of Prince George.

The Cuban team’s 14-hit attack was led by catcher Yosvani Alarcon who went
2 for 3 with two homeruns, two runs, and two RBIs, and by designated hitter Alexander Mayeta, with a homerun and four RBIs.

Third-baseman Yulieski Gourriel also contributed to the Cuban cause with two hits and two RBIs while first-baseman Jose Dariel Abreu went 3 for 5 with an RBI. Right hander Norge Luis Vera took the win.

In their first two games of the tournament Cuba edged the Japan Toshiba Baseball team 4-3 and beat the Chinese Taipei National Team 6-3.

On Tuesday, Cuba faces the Canadian national squad.
