The
attack of the Cuban team —who took revenge for their three
consecutive losses to the Asians at the recently concluded World
Port Tournament of Rotterdam, Holland— was led by left-fielder
Frederich Cepeda who went 2 for 4 with two homeruns and fours
RBIs.
Second baseman Hector Olivera and first baseman Jose Dariel
Abreu also homered for the Caribbean cause while right hander
Vladimir Garcia took the win and Vicyohandry Odelin saved the
game.
In their first game of the tournament on Saturday, Cuba edged
the Japan Toshiba Baseball team 4-3.
On Monday, Cuba faces the Beijing Tigers, a game that had to be
postponed last Friday due to the rain.
Also participating in the competition are the Bahamas and the
Canada National Team.
