Moved by the letter, she told ACN that some 8 years ago she
decided to contact Gerardo, Antonio, Ramon, Rene and
Fernando by mail, after listening to the demands of their
mothers and wives in the face of the injustices committed by
the US district attorney’s office.
Maternal, revolutionary and fraternal feelings drove this
human rights advocate to write them. Today, she keeps around
10 letters clearly showing that there are enough reasons for
The Five to be released.

On September 12, 1998, the five Cubans were arrested in the
US for monitoring the terrorist activities of Florida-based
anti-Cuban organizations.
Since then, the entire Cuban people and peoples of other
nations in the world have joined the demand for their
release, expressing, with numerous actions of solidarity,
their disagreement with the colossal injustice of their
imprisonment.
