New Agricultural Machines
Tried Out in Cuban Fields
HAVANA, Cuba, Jul 5 (acn) Modern machineries for the preparation
of soils, like ploughs and harrows, and others, are being tried
out in the Cuban countryside, as a result of a program of
technological revitalization in the sector.

A
specialist form the Agriculture and Engineering Research
Institute, Roberto Campos de los Reyes, told ACN that this
trials will contribute to requesting changes to its
manufactures, to assure higher durability and reliability.
The trials began nine months ago and will last depending on
the agro-technical characteristics of the crops so as to
validate its generalization in the whole national territory.
Campos highlighted the inclusion of the national
metalworking industry in the production of some new
implements to complement the work of these machineries.
The director of an Agricultural and Livestock Enterprise,
Carlos de Jesus Martel Hernandez, in the municipality of
Nueva Paz, in Mayabeque province, told ACN that these
machineries contributed to surpassed the sowing plan in 10
percent.
Martel explained that the use of these resources is
organized depending on the needs of the producers and
beforehand hiring.
The development of Cuban agricultural mechanization focuses
on the use of low cost consumption and conservationist
technologies in combination with animal traction.
The development of livestock and rice, tobacco, forestry,
and urban and suburban agriculture are among the priorities
of the sector.
