Cuba
Drops 20 positions in FIFA Ranking
HAVANA, Cuba, Jun 30 (acn) Cuba descended 20
positions in the FIFA world ranking after its disappointing
performance in the 2011 Gold Cup recently held in the United States.

Cuba now accumulates 330 points, placing in the 101st position
of that
ranking. In the Gold Cup, Cuba lost its three games versus
Mexico (0-5),
Costa Rica (0-5) and Panama (1-6)
The official ranking is led by World and European champion
Spain, with
1,871 points, followed by world runner-up Netherlands, Germany
and
England, in that order.
The best Latin American country is Brazil, despite descending
from the
third to the fifth position, while Mexico, after its victory at
the Gold
Cup rose to the ninth place and Argentina moved down 4 to the
tenth.
On the Latin American region the other teams among the first 100
are
Uruguay (18), Chile (27) and Paraguay (32). Ten South American
squads and
Mexico and Costa Rica as guests will participate from July 1
through the
24th in the 2011 America Cup, to be held in several Argentinean
cities.
