Cuba to Participate in Women’s Pan-Am Volleyball Cup
HAVANA, Cuba, Jun 24 (acn) Cuba will participate
in the Women’s Pan-American Volleyball Cup, which will take place in
the Mexican city of Chihuahua, from July 1 to 9, and will grant four
tickets for next year’s
World Grand Prix.

The Caribbean island is along with Canada, the Dominican
Republic, Chile, Argentina, and Mexico in Group A; while Group B
is made up of the United States, Brazil, Peru, Puerto Rico,
Trinidad and Tobago, and Costa Rica.
There are no competitions scheduled as of July 6; the knockout
stages will begin on July 7, semifinals on July 8, and the
finals on July 9.
The Women’s Pan-American Volleyball Cup is a continental event
organized by the North, Central America and Caribbean Volleyball
Confederation (NORCECA) with teams from all over the region to
qualify for the World Grand Prix.
Cuba won the gold medal in the first Women’s Pan-American
Volleyball Cup, which was held in Mexico, in 2002. From then on,
it has won three gold, one silver and one bronze.
Last year, the Dominican Republic defeated Peru, and the United
States assured the bronze medal.
