Curacao opened the score in the very first inning versus Cuban starter Dailier Hinojosa when first baseman William Saavedra made an error. They added a second run in the fourth with consecutive doble and single by Lewis Carolus and Heinrich Martina, respectively.

Cuba recovered in the fifth and scored three times, thanks to two errors made by the Curacao defense, but Hinojosa allowed two singles in that same inning and made another error that cost two more runs.

In the seventh Cuba tied the score with single by Yoelvis Fiss, who stole second base and was batted in by outfielder Yasiel Puig, but Cuban third baseman Donald Duarte erred for the second time in the game in that same inning allowing two more runs for Curacao.

Cuban reliever Ismel Jimenez lost the game, while Gregory Gustina won. On the offensive side, Curacao’s Carolus went 3-4 with a doble, and Cubans Rusney Castillo, Saavedra and Puig went 2-5.

Cuba is the defending champion in this event and will face now Chinese Taipei in its next match.
