Paraguay’s
Deputy Youth Minister In Favor of Cuban Five
HAVANA, Cuba, June 13 (acn) Paraguay’s Deputy Youth Minister
Diana Garcia said the cause of the five Cuban antiterrorist
fighters imprisoned in the US –known as the Cuban Five– is fair
and lawful for any government
fighting to maintain the sovereignty of its people.

Garcia, who arrived in Havana Sunday evening, is taking part
of the working sessions of the Third International Youth
Meeting of Solidarity with the Cuban Five.
The Paraguayan official said it was a privilege for her that
her first visit to Cuba was to be alongside the younger
generations of Cuba and the world in the claim for the
release of Gerardo Hernandez, Fernando Gonzalez, Ramon
Labañino, Antonio Guerrero and Rene Gonzalez whom she
described as valuable men.
In statements to ACN, Garcia admitted that in his country
very little is known about the Cuban Five, and considered it
necessary to multiply by all means the information about the
case and solidarity, particularly among the young people.
Garcia added that today’s information and communication
technologies could be determining in winning this “fight for
truth and justive” in reference to that for the release of
the Cuban Five.
“We have to learn [about the Cuban Five], investigate, and
become interested and raise other people’s interest, and
spread and intensify the campaign for the Cuban Five,”
Garcia insisted and went on to add that in her country, as
well as in the rest of the world, much more can be done to
bring the Cuban Five back to Cuba.
Once the meeting concludes, Garcia will remain in Cuba to
fulfill a working agenda that includes a visit to the
Havana-based Latin American Medical School where some 300
Paraguayans are studying.
Likewise, she will have the opportunity to learn about the
efforts, policies and results regarding the education of the
younger generations and the work of the Youth Studies Center
of the Youth Communist League and other relevant
institutions.
