Climb Highest Madrid Mountain for the Cuban Five
HAVANA, Cuba, May
30 (acn) Spanish and
Latin American youngsters climbed the Pico de Peñalara Mountain,
the highest point (2,429 meters) of the Sierra de Guadarrama, in
the province of Madrid, to demand the release of
the five Cuban antiterrorists unjustly incarcerated in the
United States.
|
The initiative was called by the Madrid Committee for the
Freedom of the
Cuban Five, as Gerardo Hernandez, Ramón Labañino, Antonio
Guerrero,
Fernando Gonzalez and René Gonzalez as they are known
internationally,
reported Prensa Latina news agency.
The group, along representatives from the Cuban embassy,
reached the
summit where they spread two banners displaying the Cuban
Five’s faces.
There they met with other climbers who joined the activity.
This event was part of the international campaign to demand
US president
Barak Obama to free the Cuban heroes who are serving harsh
sentences for
trying to prevent terrorist actions against Cuba by
Florida-based right
wing groups.
