Cuba Honors 2010 National
Literature Award Winner Daniel Chavarria
HOLGUIN , Cuba, May 5 (acn) The Cuban-Uruguayan writer, Daniel
Chavarria, 2010 National
Literature Award Winner, was honored in Cuba by the Hermanos
Saiz Association (AHS) of the
eastern province of Holguin, with the Venga la Esperanza Prize.

The ceremony took
place in the provincial headquarters of the National Union
of Writers and Artists of Cuba (UNEAC), where the
participants talked about Chavarria’s long history as a
fighter for equality among men, his wok as professor, and
its outstanding skills as narrator.
Chavarria exchanged with youths participating in the 18th
Romerias de Mayo Festival, and read short stories included
in the book “El aguacate y la virtud”, published by the
Matanzas publishing house.
He explained that as novelist he has always focused on
entertaining and motivating the readers by mixing historic
drama, detective stories and eroticism.
A writer from Holguin, Rafael Vilches, affirmed that
Chavarria knows how to manage the codes of literature and
has been very well received by the public and critics.
Romerias de Mayo, the main event sponsored by the AHS every
year in Cuba, has brought together more that 200 artists
from 18 countries.
