HAVANA, Cuba, Apr 21 (acn) The 13th International Festival of
Oral Narrative ‘ContArte: a Bridge of Words,’ will take place in
Havana on May 2-8 as announced by the president of the event,
Elvia Perez.
|
The meeting, dedicated on this occasion to Argentina and
planet Earth, will host oral narrators from that South
American nation and from Canada, Chile, Colombia, Mexico,
Uruguay and Cuba.
Perez added that Argentina will be represented by a
large delegation that includes young Claudio Ledesma, the
director of the festival and theoretical forum ‘Te doy la
palabra’ (You Have the Floor), held in 17 departments of
that country.
She announced that the ContArte awards of this year will
be presented during the inaugural gala at the Center of
Hispanic-American Culture in Havana.
The following day, participants —as part of a project
called ‘Caravan of Stories’— will visit residential homes
for the elderly, kindergartens, schools and other
institutions in the Havana municipalities of Cerro,
Guanabacoa and Cotorro.
On May 4, as one of the highlights of the event, the
‘Café de cuentos’ (Café of Stories) will be hosted by Las
Vegas cabaret, where Cuban and foreign creators will share
their art with singers.
Another highlight will be the colloquium scheduled for
May 6 at the Center of Hispanic-American Culture, where
participants will share practical experiences and will talk
about oral narrative as an artistic trade.
