Cuba Forum Calls for Actions against Corporate Media Supremacy
HAVANA, Cuba, Feb 14 (ACN) The 2nd International Workshop on Social Networks and Alternative Media wound up Wednesday in Havana with a final declaration calling for actions to face the supremacy of big media corporations.
The forum gathered over 240 delegates from 30 countries, who expressed their commitment to the struggle for the democratization of Internet governance from the social networks, according to PL news agency.
The document, which was read by deputy foreign minister Ana Teresita Gonzalez, called for the socialization of information, contacts and experiences in order to strengthen the impact on the Internet, based on coordinated policies.
The event particularly focused on the role of the youths, who are considered an active and progressive force.
Participants at the forum, which was hosted by Havana's Conventions Hall, ratified their support of the Venezuelan Revolution, President Hugo Chavez and the Ecuadorian Revolution led by Rafael Correa.
They also addressed the use of new information technologies to support the struggle for the release of the five Cuban anti-terrorist fighters held in the United States since 1998.
