Health and Quality of Life: the Focus of International Experts
in Holguin
HOLGUIN, Cuba, Apr 7 (acn) The 4th International Congress “Health
and Quality of Life” opened
its doors on Wednesday in this city, attended by specialists from 10
nations in Europe, Africa
and the Americas.

Alvarez, member of the event’s Organizing Committee, told ACN
that the meeting, held at Club Amigo, in Guardalavaca Beach, is
aimed at the exchange of researchers on topics related to
nutrition, pharmaceutical products, addictions and AIDS, among
others.
This congress, she added, is characterized by its community
nature and intends to raise public awareness on issues affecting
people in their home environment, neighborhoods or workplaces.
Alvarez commented that delegates from countries like Ecuador,
Argentina, Chile, Brazil, Angola, Spain, Russia and Slovakia
will carry out on Friday a tour of the Alcides Pino Popular
Council of the city of Holguin, where they will learn more about
the development of different health community projects.
Legna Gandarilla, president of the event’s Scientific
Committee, underlined that the meeting will include symposiums
and workshops, some of which will be dedicated to parasitic
diseases and quality of life, and exercises and recreation.
The opening lecture of this first day of sessions, she
explained, was in charge of Dr. Orlando Landrove, head of the
National Program of Non-Transmissible Diseases, which was
followed by a lecture by Raul Perez, director of the National
Institute for Nutrition and Food Hygiene.
The congress, which winds up on Friday, has brought together,
in its first three editions, over 500 experts from 11 nations,
with the purpose of consolidating actions between different
disciplines and sectors leading to the achievement of better
quality of life for the population.
