Actually, they are paintings, part of “Evas”, an exhibit by
painter Vladimir Leon Sagols, was inaugurated yesterday.
With these paintings, which show female bodies without clothes
portraying tiredness and indifference, the artist highlights
awkward realities rather than beauty.
Writer Reinaldo Montero noted that the masterpieces look
perfect, and at the same time seem to be unfinished. He added
that the “Evas” de Sagols should be the fruit of a hidden
experience of the artist.
Leon, who graduated from the San Alejandro National School of
Fine Arts and has participated in a dozen personal and
collective exhibits, explained that he is not very fond of
titles because they turn work pieces into concepts and confessed
that the spirit of the Cuban painter Fidelio Ponce de Leon is
present in some of the paintings.
During the inauguration of the exhibit, which will be open to
the public until May 2, a specialist in sacred art in the
convent, Orlando Gomez, affirmed that the exhibition is full of
culture and history.
Gomez pointed out that “Evas” is a real homage to women.
