Cuban
Players Lead Latin American Chess Cup in Uruguay
HAVANA, Cuba, Nov 3 (acn) After three rounds and with three
victories in as many games, Cuban Grand Masters (GM) Lazaro Bruzon
and Holden Hernandez
lead the Second Latin American Chess Cup that is underway in
Uruguay.

On Wednesday’s double round,
Bruzon —the highest-ranked player
participating in the tournament— beat Chilean Fernando Rioseco
and local
Manuel Larrera, while Holden defeated Brazilian Wiliam Froes and
Argentinean Luciano Quenallata.
In the fourth round of the competition on Thursday, Bruzon faces
Argentinean Leonardo Tristan while his compatriot takes on also
Argentinean Ramiro Santos.
Other players who also have three victories include Brazilian
Alxandr
Fier, Argentinean Ruben Felgaer, and Peruvian Jorge Cori.
In all, 228 players are participating in the contest in
Montevideo, Uruguay.
The tournament’s schedule includes nine rounds to be played in
six days.
