The book was written by local writers Ventura Carballido and Rafael Avila who led a thorough research about the work of the largest mass organization of the country.

Carballido is a lawyer and has been closely involved with the CDR. He told CAN the book was published by the Editorial Historia publishing house and it was already presented in Venezuela.

Carballido and Avila are also co-author of the book CDR: People’s Sap, presented in 2008 during the 7th Congress of the organization in Havana.

Funded by Fidel Castro on September 28, 1960, the organization emerged as a people’s surveillance system to fight counter revolutionary attacks.

The organization seeks to have the community participate in programs or campaigns to contribute with the Revolution.

The second stage of the 20th International Book Fair will be taking place from Ciego de Avila to Guantanamo until March 6.
