The director of the Electric Company of the province, Hector Lugo, noted that the construction and restoration of substations and lines also favor the stability of the services offered to state and residential clients.

Lugo mentioned that two heavily automated powerful substations that benefit the city of Hoguin recently became operational in the Mayabe and Guirabo areas, and he announced that construction works of a similar substation continue in the municipality of Banes.

He added that these substations contribute to reducing maintenance costs and the length of service interruptions in case of operational failures.

According to the commercial manager of the Electric Company, Osvaldo Morales, brigades from the Construction Ministry and the Construction Company of the Electric Industry carried out the works.

He explained that this program of modernization of lines includes substations Holguin I (in the city of Holguin) and Nipe, in the municipality of Mayari, actions that will improve the quality of services.

The investment plan includes 50 substations with social and technical restoration works in almost all the municipalities of the province.

This is complemented with the elimination of low voltage areas; in fact, about 100 kilometers of sub-transmission and distribution lines were renovated last year.

Dora Aleman, a resident of the Pedro Díaz Coello neighborhood, affirmed that blackouts are practically over now with the restoration works carried out in this heavily populated area.
