There are many sad stories of how our region has been forced to act under the Made in the US mandates. 

There are military treaties destined for imperialism’s control of the national armed entities, stripping them of all patriotic meaning and turning them into repressive machines directed precisely against any progressive and revolutionary change.

There have been demagogical programs like the Alliance for Progress of the 1960´s, created with the objective of making the oppressive image of the
times look good, neutralizing the example of dignity and resistance of the
Cuban Revolution and consolidate imperialism´s intervention in the world.

And what to say about institutions like the Organization of American States, OAS, who was called with all justice as the Ministry of US Colonies with actions that supported for example the US military intervention against Democratic forces in the Dominican Republic in 1965.

Or the aggressive regional isolation of Cuba with the support of military coups leaders, repressive regimes and US intervention actions in all of Latin America.

We should also remember the Free Trade Agreement for the Americas aimed at
strengthening the regional economic dependency regarding Washington and
which was rejected by a good part of the popular governments of our region
on November 4th and 5th, 2005 in the Argentinean city of Mar del Plata.

The creation of the Bolivarian Alliance for the People´s of Our America, ALBA, with a growing and valuable history of struggles in the economic, political and social spheres already shows important achievements where the Latin American nations interpret their reality and decides on what and not to do in favor of the wellbeing of their population.

Another regional entity, UNASUR, has also become an important and quick consulting and work institution capable of facing and giving adequate solutions to the region. This group has been instigated by powerful neighbors to the North whose objective of “divide and overcome” has not lost validity in attempting to destroy the unity of the region.

They are, without a doubt, mechanisms and inedited situations that are giving this important part of the world a new identity, creation and efficiency, despite the risks and dangers of the internal and external enemy that will not rest to see their back yard under their mandates once again.
