Made public by the president of the Cuban
Association of Writers and Artists (UNEAC), Miguel Barnet, the
document takes into account that on October 26 the island will
present at the UN, for the 19th time in a row, the Resolution on
the Necessity of Putting an End to the Economic, Commercial and
Financial Blockade Imposed by the United States on Cuba.
At the institution’s VIllena Hall, a group of members of the
UNEAC, on behalf of the
organization, expressed their support for the proclamation,
which acknowledges how unsuccessful the attempts of successive
US administrations have been to try to crush the Cuban
Revolution by way of economic strangulation, subversion and
media and psychological wars.
Convinced of the importance of denouncing it to the world, Cuban
intellectuals and artists called all those who love peace and
justice, honest people and people of good will, to join the
voices that have risen against this crime damaging the Cuban
people.Direct economic damages caused until December, 2009 to
the Cuban people as a result of the implementation of that
policy, at current prices and at a conservative estimate, total
over 100.1 billion dollars, states the document to be presented
by Cuba at the United Nations.
