Nuñez Mosquera expressed his hopes that the Global Plan of Action against this scourge becomes an effective mechanism to combat it, and a fundamental tool that contributes to the ending of unacceptable discrimination practices that still exist in some States.

Cuba, said the diplomat, has the legislation and steady institutions to enforce its struggle against human trafficking, and it is willing to cooperate with other countries in this field.

The Global Plan of Action was launched at a high-level meeting of the General Assembly at UN Headquarters in New York on Tuesday and called for integrating the fight against human trafficking into the UN’s broader programmes to boost development and strengthen security around the world.
