After the solemn ceremony held at
Havana’s Colon Cemetery, the head of state toured the mausoleum
accompanied by Deputy Foreign Minister Ana Teresita Gonzalez,
and Brigadier General Delsa Esther Puebla.
To visit his place, to pay tribute to these men, is to recall
the past that makes us live today; that’s my homage, the head of
state told the press.
Also present in the ceremony were Colonel Victor Dreke, member
of the national committee of the Association of Combatants of
the Cuban Revolution and Foreign Ministry officials.
This is the second time Bacai Sanha visits Cuba; the first visit
took place in August, 1996, when he was the president of his
country’s National Assembly.
Upon his arrival on Friday, Bacai Sanha honored African leader
Amilcar Cabral at the park devoted to African National Heroes,
and on Monday afternoon he laid a wreath by the monument to
Cuba’s National Hero Jose Marti, located at Revolution Square.
A meeting with Army General Raul Castro, President of the
councils of State and Ministers, has also been scheduled.
The Guinean delegation is made up by Ministers of State Soares
Sambu, counselor for Political and Diplomatic Affairs and Angelo
Agusto Regalla, who is also the Presidential Spokesman, as well
as other ministers and officials from Guinea Bissau’s state and
government.
