Present in the ceremony, among other authorities,
Josia S. Odjombala, director of Education in the region of
Khomas and Beans U. Ngatjizeko, director of the Adult Education
Directorate of the Education ministry, praised the positive
outcomes of the program and highlighted the efficiency of the
“Yes, I can” method in the reduction of the literacy rate in
youths and adults.
They extolled the work of Cuban specialists who provided
training and advice to officials of the Education ministry to
adjust to the program’s characteristics, which is taught by
means of video-taped lessons.
Cuban embassy’s business attaché Antonio Pubillones thanked
Namibia’s Education ministry, the facilitators and Cuban
specialists for successfully concluding the first stage of the
program, whose final goal is to eliminate illiteracy in the
African country. He encouraged them to continue working to
implement the program wherever else it is needed.
The students expressed their happiness for the opportunity they
were given to learn to read and write in English.
The graduates and promoters received certificated
for the successful fulfillment of the mission. The certificates
were handed by Cuban specialists with the help of
representatives of the Cuban embassy and Namibia’s Education
ministry.
