President of Guinea Bissau Starts Visit to Cuba
HAVANA, Cuba, Aug 28 (acn) Guinea Bissau President Malam Bacai
Sanha arrived in Cuba this Thursday following an official
invitation.

The Guinea Bissau President was
welcomed by Cuban Foreign deputy Minister Ana Teresita González
Fraga at the Jose Marti International Airport in this capital.
During his stay Bacai Sanha will hold official talks with the
Cuban President Raul Castro and carry out other activities.
In this, his first visit to Cuba as a dignitary, Bacai Sanha
travels accompanied by the Ministers of State Soares Sambu,
counselor for Political and Diplomatic Affairs and Angelo Agusto
Regalla, who is also Presidential Spokesman, among other
officials.
Cuba and Guinea Bissau maintain friendly and cordial political
and diplomatic relations, and develop important links of
bilateral cooperation, especially in the areas of health and
education.
A total of 1,576 Cuban health professionals have served in
Guinea Bissau since June 2001 and currently more than 40 doctors
and medical professors cooperate there in the health care and
train 171 students from that country.
Cuba and Guinea Bissau established diplomatic relations in
October 1973.
