Lacognata was received by his
Cuban counterpart Bruno Rodriguez at the
Cuban Foreign Affairs Ministry, where he announced his country’s
intentions to demand the lifting of the US economic, financial
and commercial blockade against Cuba, at the UN General
Assembly.
He recalled that that has been Paraguay’s standing at the
General Assembly
since 1994, a position President Lugo reaffirms this time. At
Lugo’s request, his country’s delegation will also demand the
release of the five Cuban antiterrorist unjustly incarcerated in
the United States.
The Foreign Minister also forwarded a greeting message to Cuban
Revolution
leader Fidel Castro and President Raul Castro and thanked Cuba
for “its permanent cooperation in different fields”
Cuban FM Rodriguez spoke of the “historical bonds between our
two peoples and the love of (Cuban National Hero) Jose Marti for
Parguay”
He added that this visit will contribute to the development of
the bilateral relations, which he described as “excellent”
Lacognata arrived in Cuba on
Wednesday and will carry out several activities in his two-day
stay.
