“fishermen folklore, living on the coast and the sea.”
Founded by Samuel Feijoo in 1969,
Signos is a collection of popular expressions with a wide sense
of culture. It focuses on rescuing processes, traditions and
typical characters of different regions of the country.
Throughout more than 40 years of intense literary life, the
magazine has had the mission of stimulating and facilitating
academic exchange among researchers of the international
community by publishing original articles about theoretical and
applied scientific researches on different areas of the language
in both Spanish and English.
Signos takes pride in featuring works by figures of the Latin
American and universal culture, among them, in addition to
Feijoo, Jean Dubuffet, Roberto Altmann, Wifredo Lam, and Rene
Portocarrero.
Others who have left a mark on the magazine are Mario Benedetti,
Eliseo Diego, Fayad Jamis, Nicolas Guillen, Jose Lezama Lima and
Roberto Fernandez Retamar.
