Cuba Loses to Venezuela at Women’s Baseball World Cup
HAVANA, Cuba, Aug 19 (acn) Host Venezuela remained undefeated at the IV Women’s Baseball World Cup after beating Cuba 4-3 in a tight game last night.

Thus, Venezuela has practically included itself among the top four teams in this tournament, while the Cubans now have little chances of going for the gold

It was an exciting game before a 13,000 people attendance at the José Pérez Colmenares Stadium. The host team started ahead in the very first inning when they scored twice against Cuban hurler Yaima Ramos.

The Cuban batters closed the gap in the sixth when they scored once, and then dobled the feat in the next inning to take the lead. But it was a short-lived happiness for the Cubans because at the bottom of that same inning Venezuela returned the favour.

Venezuelan reliever Lelys Gomez was the winner, despite having just pitched against one batter. Cuban Ramos was the loser.

On the winner’s side best batter was Nidia Pineda with two singles and one RBI, while Cuban Dayana Batista dobled twice.

Now Cuba is playing Australia at the same venue.
