Gisell de la Caridad Silva led the Cuban attack
with 27 points while Kenia Carcases contributed 21 units to the
winners’ cause. Prisilla Rivera led the Dominican side with 20
points.
With this result, Cuba leads Pool A with three victories in as
many outings after they beat Brazil on Friday and Canada on
Saturday, in both cases in four sets (3-1).
In other results on Sunday, also in Pool A, Argentina blanked
Brazil 3-0 (25-13, 25-15, 25-22) while, in Pool B, Peru swept
Puerto Rico 3-0 (25-21, 25-22, 25-14), host Mexico downed Costa
Rica 3-1 (25-17, 15-25, 25-14, 25-14) and the United States
steamrolled Trinidad and Tobago 3-0 (25-17, 25-9, 25-11).
The competition will grant four tickets for the 2011 Grand Prix,
an event in which Cuba has not participated since 2008.
