Cuban Divers to Compete in China’s World Cup
HAVANA, Cuba, Jun 2 (acn) Four Cuban divers, headed by 2005 World
platform silver medallist
Jose Antonio Guerra will compete from this Wednesday through the 6th
at the XVII Diving World
Cup at the Chinese city of Changzhou.

Guerra is
the Cuban with greater possibilities of winning a medal in this Cup
in the 10 meter synchronized along Jeinkler Aguirre, a couple which
won the bronze medal at the 2009 Rome World Championships.
Both athletes are to compete in the singles platform, while Guerra
will join Jorge Betancourt for the springboard synchronized.
Betancourt registered for the singles springboard event, along Abel
Ramirez, who is looking for experience before the First Youth
Olympic Games to be held in Singapore.
Several world and Olympic champions registered for this World Cup
looking to finish among the best eight in singles and six in
synchronized to qualify for the V World Series to be held in 2011.
Chinese Olympic champions Minxia Wu, Roulin Chen, Chong He and Qin
Kai will be among the contenders, along Mexicans Paola Espinosa,
Rommel Pacheco and Yahel Castillo; Canadians Alexandre Despatie and
Hemilie Heymans, German Sascha Klein and Australians Matthew Mitcham
and Melissa Wu.
