During the
opening speech of the event, the General Director of the
Havana-based Finlay Institute, Concepcion Campa, said the meeting
shows the importance that the Cuban state gives to the study and
protection of human health and, particularly, to the search for new
methods leading to a better ecological balance.
Campa added that natural and traditional medicine favors respect for
biodiversity and protects humans since it looks for solutions in non
synthetic products.
Dozens of
specialists in medical sciences from 10 countries are meeting at
Havana’s Convention Center to promote the research, production,
commercialization and distribution of natural medicine.
Some of the main topics to be discussed include human nutrition from
natural products, acupuncture and the use of human energy to cure
certain ailments, among others.
The event
runs through May 28.
