Participants in the event that runs through Saturday at the University of Pinar del Rio will discuss topics such as the sustainable management of forests and protection of biodiversity, among others.

The program includes the lectures “The Forestal Sector in the Caribbean” by ScD Claus M. Eckelmann, a specialist with the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization, and “Treatment of Mediterranean Forests after a Fire,” by Spanish Dr. Jorge de las Heras.

The event also includes an international workshop on fire control and prevention.

Participants will visit Guayabita manufacturing plant, where this exclusive liquor is produced from a small guava fruit endemic to Pinar del Rio.
