No Dengue Cases
Reported in Las Tunas Province Since 2006
LAS TUNAS, Cuba,
March 18 (acn) No cases of epidemic dengue have been reported in
eastern Las Tunas province since 2006 as the territory maintains a
strict control of the Aedes Aegypti
mosquito, the vector of the disease.

|
Aldo
Cortes, Director of the Center of Hygiene and Epidemiology in the
province, told ACN that some of the municipalities with excellent
results in the fight against the vector include Colombia and Puerto
Padre while Manatí and Las Tunas still have problems.
Cortes explained that, although the situation is far from serious at
the provincial level, they are strictly following national
guidelines to fight the proliferation of the Aedes Aegypti, mainly
through the elimination of its potential breeding sites.
